Photo from our vacation which is COMPLETELY unrelated to the following except to say that THIS is how we homeschool.
Between the loss of my mother (and the subsequent busy-ness) plus visiting a dear friend who lost her father a week before my mother died…well, I am a bit behind. I have a huge queue of thought provoking posts I want to link but my brain is too tired after taking 3 kids on a vacation of sorts to actually say anything about them. So, here you go:
Homeschoolers Are Beating the State. Can We Learn From Them? and the response here Thoughts on Homeschooling I found these post interesting, especially as we too are a homeschooling family and have had similar thoughts on the movement. Shamus and I tend to be of the follow the rules (because we are Christ followers not because we agree with the rules) sort. We are blessed because we homeschool under a special law due to my teachers certification which allows us much more freedom than most in our state but if we had to do things the other way we would do them but would probably do them in a “adhere to the law but only just” sort of way.
My dear friend, Cat, wrote this brilliant and much needed getting your feet back on the ground and refocusing on the Truth type post Of Libertines, Libertarians and Liberty about which I am still thinking and chewing.
And now for a few that have been sitting in my queue for a while while I have been off elsewhere:
Calling People Illegals This is something that has bothered me for some time but which I didn’t have time to put into words (3 kids, two of which are rather hormonal and emotional most of the time makes thinking nye impossible.
And more on Homeschooling and here: Kitchen Classrooms though I don’t appreciate the fact that they focus completely on homeschoolers on the opposite side of the spectrum (the “school at home” perfect children who quite frankly drive me insane.)
A great one comparing healthcare prices.
Interesting post on the Bible and the Death Penalty.
Give us a King! And this has been on my mind for the last few presidents.
And this is what happens with the whole give a man power thing.
And finally a reminder that God IS in control and CAN handle all this stuff.
Now I’m going to be busy reading for awhile too…
